Sobre mim # Últimos 5 anos 

Para quem não me conhece darei a referência da década de 90, onde fui cantora dos Ravel, grupo da Pop/Rock/Folk da música moderna portuguesa e do início dos anos 2000 com o álbum Caminhando até ti, com destaque ao dueto com Rui Veloso. Nunca deixei de estar na música,  mas sempre de forma mais discreta. 

Nos últimos anos integrei o grupo Ar de Rock, dando voz a um dos singles do grupo com a versão “ O Pastor” ( Rock/Pop) sendo apoiado pela RFM, ’sou colaboradora do grupo inglês Chameleon Collective, como coautora e cantora, em que gravamos um álbum 1979’LA Sound is back, (Jazz/Rock /Chill out/Fusion) com os músicos e produtores Jonathan Miller e Jed Allen, com o single Snowball lançado em 2020, pouco antes da Pandemia,  apoiado pela rádio Smooth. 

Colaborei também nas autorias e nas vozes do último álbum a solo de Fernando Cunha “A Linha do Tempo” onde cantamos juntos em dueto, uma versão do tema : “ Sombra de uma Flor. “ dos Delfins 

Daí que 2024,  foi um daqueles momentos em que eu tinha de tomar uma decisão e arriscar…   de me atirar de novo ao “ Mar” e avançar nesse sentido, permanecendo fiel à minha essência… e assim em sonho nasceu Brumas do Luar,  reunindo canções escritas ao longo dos anos e convidando alguns amigos, colegas profissionais de longa data que mais admiro para colaborar neste novo trabalho, são eles Fernando Cunha, Carlos Maria Trindade, Rodrigo Leão, Rão Kyao, Pedro León, Pedro Jóia, Emanuel de Andrade, Thomas Zellner, Leopoldo Gouveia e Sebastian Scheriff.

About me

Maria León is a Portuguese singer-songwriter who first gained recognition in the 1990s as the lead vocalist of Ravel, a Pop/Rock/Folk band with two albums released on Polygram/Universal. In the early 2000s she released her solo debut Caminhando até Ti (EMI), featuring a celebrated duet with Rui Veloso. Though often discreet, she has never stepped away from music.

In recent years she joined Ar de Rock, giving voice to the single O Pastor (supported by RFM), and collaborated with the British Chameleon Collective as co-author and vocalist on the album 1979- LA Sound is Back (Sony, 2020), with musicians and Producers Jonathan Miller and Jed Allen, featuring the single "Snowball, supported by Smooth Radio.

She also contributed as songwriter and singer to Fernando Cunha’s solo album A Linha do Tempo (2023), including the duet Sombra de uma Flor (originally by Delfins).

In 2024, María decided to “dive back into the sea,” staying true to her essence and artistic path. This gave birth to "Brumas do Luar, Lisboa, Mar e Alma"  (2025), an album weaving songs written over the years and also with collaborations with some of Portugal’s most respected musicians as her working team: Fernando Cunha, Carlos Maria Trindade, Rodrigo Leão, Rão Kyao, Pedro León, Pedro Jóia, Emanuel de Andrade, Thomas Zellner, Leopoldo Gouveia and Sebastian Scheriff.

With Brumas do Luar and its first single Barquinho de Papel (feat. Carlos Maria Trindade & Rão Kyao), Maria León reaffirms herself as a singular voice in Portuguese music — where tradition, world sounds and artistic complicity converge.
